Here are some of the projects we have planned:

Partner with the state Department of Motor Vehicles to develop a designation on state IDs that identifies individuals with cognitive impairments, so that police officers and others can be alerted early in the judicial process, that an individual may require accommodations related to communication and/or intellectual capacity.

Work with the Nebraska Department of Developmental Disabilities and the Nebraska Department of Education to see how their client information can be shared across state databases, in order to identify currently incarcerated individuals who are I/DD.

keep people safe

Work with the Department of Corrections to identify those with I/DD as a population who needs mission-specific housing.

Appropriate risk-assessment & programming

Identify appropriate risk-assessment tools and programming, and encourage the idea of responsive sentencing for this population.
